A living will is a legal document that outlines a person’s wishes for medical treatment in the event they are unable to specify those wishes on their own due to being in an incapacitated state. If a person does not have a living will, then a court may have to intervene to mandate what type of care a person should receive. A living will should be closely tailored according to the state law where a person resides, it should be signed by the creator in the presence of a notary.
